The deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Angelino Elavoco, received a delegation from the Ministry of Planning, as part of the Acceleration Project on Economic Diversification (Diversifica Mais), headed by the National Director for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Wenilton Paixão.
Representing the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo, the deputy governor welcomed the delegation during the meeting, which aimed to discuss the preparations for the Training Workshop on Public-Private Partnerships, scheduled to take place in Huambo on Tuesday, October 14.
During the hearing, Angelino Elavoco praised the attention that the Ministry of Planning has paid to Huambo through its various initiatives and pointed out that the local executive already has some proposals that could fall under the PPP umbrella. He also stressed that the provincial government will list 10 priority projects, in line with the objectives of the Diversifica Mais Program.
For his part, the National Director for Public-Private Partnerships, Wenilton Paixão, thanked the Huambo government for its prompt response and availability, stressing that the main aim of the event is to raise awareness and train public and institutional decision-makers on the use of PPPs as strategic instruments for solving sectoral challenges, as well as to publicize the Diversifica Mais Program.
He said that, initially, four workshops would be held nationwide, with Huambo province being the first to host the event. He also encouraged the provincial government to identify more strategic projects within the portfolio available for the Lobito Corridor, thus reinforcing Huambo’s position as a contracting public entity and partner in economic development
